Signs You Might Have Rats

Trails:

  • Leave oily smudges on baseboards or walls
  • Make well-worn trails in grass and low vegetation
  • Prints can be seen in dust

Droppings:

  • Up to 1 inch long
  • Bullet-shaped

Burrows:

  • Outside they like burrows in grassy embankments and under sheltering stones, roots, or pavement
  • Inside, they like infrequently-used areas

Damage:

  • Gnawed wood, electrical cords, and other inedible objects
  • Gnaw food packaging
  • May steal food
